Post hip pain??
I'm having a weird new symptom and wondering if anyone else has this. I have pain on my hip that wraps around the whole side and feels like a sunburn but also like it is inside of my hip. It is tender to touch but also hurts like I've over used it. I also experience these shooting sharp pains near my groin. :cry I know I have some arthritis in that hip, but I also have arthritis in the other hip which is worse and I've never had pain like this. I 'm also noticing pain in my lower back, not to mention pain in the left shoulder. All of this and I'm on Lyrica which had been helping me a lot. Only thing that has changed is I stopped taking Plaquenil (tapered that off though). *eyes*

Anyhoo . . . anyone else have this? I'm starting to believe my pantyhose are evil and they are attacking me . . . . :shame

"Sunburn" sounds like neuropathy to me. The Lyrica should help that (I thought) :shrug
I have neuropathy in my back and legs from shingles

Here is some info, see if it sounds like what you're experiencing. :hug

Neuropathy does sound like some of what I have. It does feel like nerve pain, like what I had when I had a herniated disc in my neck. Like you, I thought Lyrica would address that. Could be I need to up my dose? Or I've herniated another disc lower down? *sigh* As Gilda Radner used to say, "It's always somethin"

Mrs T, :wave
I have the same hip pain you are describing! I also take Lyrica. My left hip is tender to touch and the pain is in my hip and lower back and in my groin. Most of the time it's a sharp, stabbing pain. It's hard to walk and I have to rely on my cane because I cannot put my full weight on my left leg when the pain is at its worst. I also have pain in my left shoulder blade, toward the middle of my back. But I also get pain in my left chest muscle which really hurts too. According to my physical therapist...all those muscles are related to each other and she says that is why I am experiencing pain altogether in those areas (?)...I have many, many knots in all those muscle areas...

They've tried to do ultrasound therapy, but it hurt too much. I found some relief by using my portable TENS unit on my lower back and moist heat...most of the time, I have to take Flexeril to finally get relief...which makes me very sleepy...I find that my pain is worst when I experience the achiness too with the change of weather. My Dr just increased my Lyrica dosage again...so I am hoping this will help...

Sharing your pain...

Wow Dena, it does sound like we have the same thing. Do you have any arthritis in your hip? I know I do and it feels like it is getting worse---I have it pretty bad in my right hip, now the left hip is going too. I hear that is fairly common with hip arthritis for the other hip to go after the first one. My doctor is up here in Baltimore---he is supposed to be THE hip guy to see. Frank Ebert is his name and he works out of Union Memorial. It might be worth looking into, the arthrits that is, I get synvisc injections in my right hip and it hurts a whole lot less. Probably time to do the left one too :shrug

I suspect that the shoulder pain, the chest pain, and the wierd tender to touch pain on the hip might be due to a disc issue either in the thoracic spine or lower down. Have you had an MRI or anything to rule that out? I hate to chalk things up to fibro when it could be something else. Especially when that on fire, tender to touch feeling really feels like nerve pain.
