Hello, my name is Darlene, I live in Barrie, Ontario. I've had FM for 7 years now. I'm unable to work, and stay home. I am so glad I found this website! My question is; can anyone tell me why I get low grade fevers when I get a full flare-up? No one has been able to tell me. I do have Graves disease also, thyroid.

I can't tell you why you get the low grade fever but I can tell you I get the same thing. Does that help at all ? You are not alone in this.

Thank you Kendall, I guess my concern is that when I look up symptoms, I don't find the word fever listed as one of them. So then I question what is causing the fevers. Could it be autoimmune disease? Our bodies are in pain, and thinks it needs to fight it off with fevers?? There really needs to me more research on Fibro.

FM is not autoimmune, but you nay have an autoimmune condition in addition. Have you been tested?

I get low-grade fevers with a flare also. I've been tested for everything under the sun, but the doctors can't find anything concrete. I do have a thyroid auto-immune disease called Hashimoto's disease and have read that thyroid issues can mess with your temperature. Hashimoto's has a postitive indicator so you might ask to be tested for it.

Do you have fatigue as one of your symptoms? I have chronic fatigue which does have low grade fevers as a symptom. When I get a flare of CFS, I get fevers that range from 99.0 to around 100.0 and my glands under my chin and on the side of my neck get swollen and sore. No other explanation, and when I was first dx'd, I was tested for everything imaginable.

About 3 years ago, I had really high fevers, and felt like I was going to die...literally.....and it lasted for about 2 months. My blood work revealed an off the charts sed-rate....and C-reactive Protein.....which both are indicators of inflammation.....but no other indicators of anything, and no diagnosable illness.

So, I guess fevers can be part of this illness........as I call this....."adventures in body land"....as for me, it seems like something new comes up that can not be explained frequently. Not to mention that every day I wake up to see what new thing I get to deal with for that day..

I USE COLD DAMP TOWELS ON MY BODY AT THESE TIMES..THAT BRINGS YOUR FEVER DOWN...THEN MY DEAR, LOWER YOUR PAIN THRESHOLD WITH YOUR PAIN MEDS...& IN BETWEEN PAIN MEDS YOU CAN TAKE 'PARASEDAMOLS. (SP?)...( UP TO 6-8 A DAY...) WHEN YOUR FEELING BETTER TAPPER OFF...... ITS NOT GIVING IN....IT IS JUST COMMON SENSE.....

ALSO FATIGUE WILL PUT YOUR FEVER UP......TO GET OVER FATIGUED ....DO THE SAME AS ABOVE... BUT REST, REST, REST.......IT TAKES OUR BODIES SO MUCH LONGER TO GET BETTER THAN A ''NORMAL''......

SAY... A NORMAL BODY RUNS AT 20 MPH...WE RUN AT 80...SO WE GET TIRED SOONER & IT TAKES US LONGER TO COME BACK.......(WE ARE ALWAYS RUNNING ON EMPTY GASS, & A VERY LOW BATTERY!!!!....
