Post Skin feels burnt?
I'm having a new issue and I'm wondering if anyone else has this. I've had fibro 12 years. Recently I've started having patches of skin that for no apparent reason will get very sensitive and it feels like I've been burnt. I can hardly stand for my clothing to touch my skin. Sometime it's a small patch on my arm or side. Today my whole calf on one leg and foot feels that way. It's also hurting pretty badly but the skin sensitivity is what I'm curious about. Thanks for your help

Melo,

Lots of fibromites have skin problems.

If the sensitive patches of skin are red and scaly, you might have atopic dermatitis (aka eczema). Eczema feels like a sunburn that has blistered and is peeling (looks like it, too).

If the sensitive patches come and go, you might have peripheral neuropathy.

And it could be something else altogether. Ah, the joys of fibro (NOT!).

It's probably worth having a doctor check it out because there might well be something that will either prevent it or improve it.

Thanks,
I do not have any physical symtoms, the area looks perfectly normal, no rash, no redness, just the pain

Then it's probably a neurological problem. If you doctor will refer you to a neurologist, you can get tested for MS and other neurological problems.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Maybe if u have good doc, preferably Pain Specialist. Bring it up to him or her, and ask to be evaluated for Neuralgia and RSD ( Reflex Sympathtic Dystrophy). It has name change a while back now it is called CRSP ( Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). It it well worth the look at.

If one doc says no look for a doc that specializes it and understands RSD. :luck

Thank you all for the information, I will check into these things. Currently I'm not taking any medications. Since I was diagnoised at such a young age I have avoided over medicating myself. Of course in the beginning I was one a variety of meds, but I decided that for me I needed to do the best I could without medication. I thought the side effects in the long run would out weight the benefit. I kept thinking my liver or kidneys or something could be affected and I was only 18. Now I'm 30, I've been on and off medications, I mostly take something when I'm having a big flare. But seems the older I get the more I feel the pain. About 6 months ago we started trying to have a baby so I'm really trying to stay drug free for now. However if this pain continues I may find myself resulting back to the rx. I will keep you posted on the outcome. Again, Thanks :type

It sounds like a nerve thing to me also. I have shingles and get the PHN (post herpetic neuralgia) from it, and sounds a lot like that.

Yikes, Barbara! Shingles on top of everything else.

You continue to amaze me! :hug
