Applying for Disability

This section will contain general information on how to apply for disability. Of course, the relevance of this information will depend on where you live and local eligibility requirements.

What we would like our members to do is tell us where you live and whether you were approved for disability. We want others to benefit from your experience whether or not you were approved for disability benefits.

Your insights might help others, or someone else’s insights may help you. That’s what FibroTalk is all about -- helping one another.

Lawyer Referral Service

If you’ve had a positive experience with a lawyer in your area, please let us know so we can insert his/her name into our database of lawyers dealing with benefits and disability claims. It’s always good to find someone with a good track record and some demonstrated expertise in this evolving area of law.

Doctor Referral Service

If you’ve had a positive experience with a physician in your area, please let us know so we can insert his/her name into our database of doctors dealing with FMS/CFS. As we all know, doctors who understand our illness are hard to find. Let’s share such knowledge for our mutual betterment.

Product Reviews & Surveys

Many of us take supplements which help make our pain more tolerable. If you’ve found something that’s worked for you, tell us about it. You may be helping someone else who’s hurting just like you. A word of caution, however. There are lots of con-artists out there who prey on sick people and their desire to be well again. Don't fall for snakeoil 'miracle cures'.

Medical Journal Abstracts

We’ll be combing through reputable medical journals for new research findings in the area of FMS/CFS. If it’s a major finding, you’ll find it here.

Book Reviews

There are some books on fibromyalgia that are quite informative. We will attempt to list and review some of the better titles to guide your purchasing decisions. Similarly, if you’ve read a great book that we should add to our list, send us the title and the author’s name so we can make it known to other members.
